Garnet

THE HISTORY OF GARNET

  • Semi-precious gem
  • Origin: Africa, India, Vietnam, Russia, South America

A generic name that refers to a large group of minerals, each of which has a specific name depending on its appearance and colour. Garnet is therefore a family of different-coloured gems. “Garnet” as a term generally refers to the red garnets, which are the most well-known. Red like embers, purplish-red, the traditional colour for garnet is more of a dark red. The stone gets its name from the Latin granus, which means seed, due to the rounded appearance of the unpolished stones and its colour, which is similar to that of a pomegranate. It is believed to have energising properties,

to increase self-confidence and perseverance.
